Europe is the fastest growing and most attractive EV market in the world, with 20% forecasted annual growth until 2035. Ampere is thoroughly focused on leading this market. And we’re well positioned to succeed, leveraging more than 15 years of proven Renault leadership in EVs.

We design, develop and manufacture EVs for the Renault brand to address the core segments in Europe. These vehicles are backed by innovative technology, strong heritage, and Renault Group’s proven track record in manufacturing, distribution and branding.

Automotive startup with
strong shoulders

Our name is a tribute to André-Marie Ampère, inventor of electrical intensity measurement.

This unique new entity combines the best of two worlds: the strength and experience of a traditional OEM fuelled by the curiosity, drive and mindset of an ambitious challenger.

Ampere is designed to be agile and perform at scale from day one. As a focused organisation with a strong tech culture, our software and hardware development cycles flow freely at their own pace.

  • Born with unparalleled experience thanks to Renault Group.
  • To take the lead in Europe in electric vehicles and software.

ESG-BORN
Company

Our unique ecosystem allows us to go beyond our EV competitors to create a truly circular economy in Europe.

We are not just focused on sustainability. Our very existence was born of the need for cleaner, efficient driving. Ampere is an ESG-native company, and ESG is embedded in everything we do – from the market we operate in, to the products and services we offer, to the processes we leverage.

Our ESG actions are centred on three key pillars, including carbon neutrality, circular economy and fair treatment of people.

#1

Environmental and social ratings

With a score of 12.8, Ampere is ranked #1 by Sustainalytics in the automotive sector and in the top 6th percentile of all companies globally.

pushing boundaries
in carbon NEUTRALITY

Going beyond electrification, Ampere integrates decarbonisation from day one. Made in France, our cars benefit from the lowest electricity carbon footprint worldwide behind Norway and Sweden. And they boast among the lowest overall carbon footprints in the car industry. Our Renault Megane E-Tech 100% electric model alone achieves on-road emissions as low as 19 t CO2 per vehicle.

On a larger scale, Ampere plans to achieve net-zero status by 2035. And that requires lowering our footprint throughout our plants and processes too. At our unique industrial centre ElectriCity, we teamed up with partners like Dalkia and EDF Group to install a biomass boiler at our Maubeuge plant, replacing 65% of the gas consumption there.

CLOSING LOOP IN
CIRCULAR ECONOMY

Ampere preserves natural resources by leveraging a genuine closed-loop circular economy. We’ve been privileging sustainable materials for 10 years, well ahead of the competition. And we’ve already implemented several EV-related short loops, thanks to The Future Is Neutral and its partners.

Batteries are one of the biggest concerns in the future of EVs. Through the expertise of our Mobilize entity, we are uniquely committed to giving a second life to EV batteries well before recycling. We’ve been able to repurpose more than 2,000 batteries since 2017, representing over 25,000 MWh storage capacity.

COMMITTED TO
TREATING PEOPLE FAIRLY

The ultimate goal of any effective sustainability strategy is to create positive environments for people to live, work and play in. At Ampere, our supply chain is built on human rights, transparency and ethics. ESG is used as pre-selection criteria for all our suppliers, and it’s a binding clause in all our contracts.

Within our own company, we help employees through upskilling and reskilling initiatives to meet rising industry challenges, such as training on batteries or on e-Powertrain of the latest generations of EVs. And with a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, Ampere is on par with Renault Group objectives on women for women advancement and outreach programs for talents from underprivileged backgrounds.
